SBUP is proud to have awarded Ph.D. degrees to around 30 scholars, while over 250 scholars are currently pursuing their doctoral research with us. Eligibility: Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

  • Open to full-time Ph.D. candidates qualifying through Sri Balaji University’s Ph.D. Admission process or equivalent.
  • Includes those who passed UGC NET (Regular) and UGC NET – JRF exams and are selected for SBUP's Personal Interaction
  • Candidates holding UGC/CSIR/RGNF/MANF/DST Inspire Fellowships, qualifying for Sri Balaji University’s Ph.D., can join as full-time Ph.D. students with their respective fellowships
  • The age of an applicant has to be less than or equal to 35 years as on 15th November 2025.

Financial Support: 

  • SBUP RF-JRF Fellowship provides a monthly stipend of ₹40,000 to ₹60,000 for qualified candidates.
  • Recognized Senior Research Fellows (SRF) receive ₹50,000 to ₹70,000 monthly during their SRF tenure.
  • There is a provision of annual contingency grant of ₹10,000 for research work.

A Scholarship of 50% in fees will be offered to the serving or retired Personnel from Indian Army/ Navy/ Air force. However, they will have to pay the other fees namely Application fee, SBUP-PET fee, Course Work fee and Course Work Exam fee.

What is SBUP-PET?

Sri Balaji University Pune Ph.D. Entrance Test (SBUP-PET) is an entrance exam conducted by Sri Balaji University, Pune (SBUP).

This exam will be conducted on 6th December, 2025.

The entrance exam is NOT optional in nature unless candidates have cleared NET/SET/SLET/GATE/JRF/M.Phil. shall be exempted from the entrance examination during the period of the validity of the concerned test. However, they will have to appear for a personal interview.

An Entrance Test shall be qualifying with qualifying marks of 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject-specific. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the Centre(s) notified in advance (changes of Centres, if any, also will be notified well in advance) at the level of the University.

  • Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master's degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body.
  • At least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B'; in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
  • An equivalent degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved.
  • The candidates who are members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), and Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI), having five years of professional experience are also eligible. However, they must have scored 55% marks at the graduation.

The Ph.D. program shall be for a minimum duration of three years, including course work, and a maximum of five years.
Yes, you can work along with pursuing PhD, as we offer a part-time Ph.D. program.
Coursework is of 3-month duration. It will be on every Saturday in online and offline mode with 75% compulsory attendance.
  • Fellowship would be offered only to those who are applying for a Full-time Ph.D. programme.
  • This fellowship would be between ₹40,000 (Rupees Forty Thousand) and ₹60,000 (Rupees Sixty Thousand) per month, besides an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/- (Rs. Ten Thousand) will be granted for attending conferences, etc.
  • These scholars will be working full-time for their research program. During this period, they will assist the Senior faculty in conducting their regular lectures at SBUP, besides continuing their research. These scholars may be offered suitable positions in the University after completing their Doctoral degree (PhD).
  • Sri Balaji University, Pune shall admit Ph.D. students through an Entrance Test (SBUP - PET) conducted at the level of the University.
  • UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / SET / GATE/teacher fellowship holder or have passed the M.Phil. program are exempted from the SBUP-PET, however, they have to appear in an interview/ viva-voce.

The research scholars of the Ph.D. program have to pay the fees annually. However, Ph.D. candidates will have to pay Rs. 25,000/- as the examination fee at the time of submitting the thesis.
